“Fame”: Don’t Remember My Name
By Ryan Fleer
If you’re planning to catch a movie with your friends in the near future, don’t see Fame. Fame, the 1980 smash hit movie, is back, yet this time it won’t be a hit. Although the movie had a very talented cast, the storyline was almost nonexistent.
Since Fame attempts to follow too many people’s journeys at LaGuardia Performing Arts High School, it can be quite a challenge to pursue each and every one of them as a viewer. Throughout the movie, I found myself confused about what was going on, because the movie attempted to portray each student’s four full years in high school. I had trouble connecting with any one particular character. Also, sometimes throughout the movie, random characters would show up and disappear. Overall, the storyline was just a choppy failure.
The failure of the movie is most unfortunate for the cast of this movie, all of whom turned out to be very talented. Compared to the stage version of Fame, the writers decided to throw in more characters on top of the original five. These new characters served no purpose, detracting from the original character’s stories.
Here’s my suggestion to the writers of Fame: next time, either make four separate movies covering the student’s four years, or make one movie centering around three to four characters, allowing full character development.
If you’re into flat out bad movies, go see Fame.

I completely agree with this article. I have seen “Fame” and was not amused by it either. I don’t recommend seeing it for those who have not yet had a chance to watch it!
