Tyra Banks

By Taylor Kelly

Tyra Banks is the one person who I can thank for inspiring my fantasy of becoming a model, learning things in order to reach for the stars, and always having faith in myself. When she was just eleven years old, she was laughed at, made fun of, and was called harsh names. People saw her as just a skinny, tall girl, but they never saw or even cared to look inside of her to find the real Tyra Banks. But Tyra never let this stage of her life put her down; instead she proved them wrong. When she was 17, she was noticed by a French modeling scout who offered her a chance to model in the Paris couture shows. From this point, her career as a model took off. In 2003, Tyra created her own show: “America’s Next Top Model.” Girls from all over come to win a modeling contract from this show. However, behind the cameras, makeup, and clothes, Tyra Banks is just as much as a role model as a fashion model and television host.
Tyra inspires me and probably ever other girl who has the same dream of becoming a model. She taught me that, “A good model is a smart model.” Her love for children, animals, and nature make her the person she truly is. Her value for education makes her stand out from some other famous people or models. She always says what she means and never backs down on something she promises to do. Now she is promoting a line of greeting cards for abused or neglected kids. Tyra Banks has changed my life and can change yours, too.
